Limey Haircut Band is the brainchild of bandleader/composer Joe Doveton.
Post-Punk provides the introspection. The texture comes from Prog. The cut, paste and synthesis comes from Sampledelia (“My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts, anyone?”). The dynamism and loop, repeat and drop are from Rave culture. The melody is unashamedly top 40 Pop with a capital Z.
Guitar-synths and mellotrons gurgle, glide and hum and jostle for position with odd little samples from Lorde, Muddy Waters, Doris Day, Swans, Killing Joke, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Jurassic 5 and The Jesus and Mary Chain.
Aside from the quotes below (made up for marketing purposes), real humans have compared LHB to acts as diverse as Japan, Television, The Blue Nile, Coin Op, Cluster, Echo and The Bunnymen, Hot Chip, Blancmange, Cabaret Voltaire and 80s Paul McCartney.
